CONTEXT
Wizard’s unique teaching materials and methodology, combined with technology and flexible class formats, set the school apart. Students learn in a simple, continuous way, developing the four communication skills needed to become fluent in another language: speaking, listening, writing, and reading. The Wizard Learning Hub serves as the online study tool, offering a complete school experience accessible from anywhere, featuring live classes and teacher support throughout the entire learning journey. Among the key distinguishing features are:
Virtual Classroom
Unique Methodology
Up to 100 English sentences per lesson, developing communication skills quickly and effectively.
International Certification
At Wizard, you can earn a score on the Pearson English International Certificate proficiency exam.
Conversation Club
Option to participate in monthly online meetings for language practice among students.
Dedicated Teachers
Teachers dedicated to the class who know the students by name, helping them overcome challenges in a personalized way.
Access to Wiz.me
The Wizard app acts as a virtual assistant, connecting students to English 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The project began with the proposal to bring the Wizard methodology to the Latin American market, but using online classes instead of physical franchise locations. To make this feasible in the short term, several platforms were initially used: one for video lessons, another for scheduling, one to host the library, and another for the course content. In other words, students had to access all of them to attend classes. This led to several problems:
Multiple access points
Limited visibility into the academic journey
Inconsistent experience across platforms
Reliance on legacy systems
BUSINESS GOALS
With the goal of expanding online classes to the Brazilian market, where over 80% of the students were concentrated, building a platform became necessary. However, beyond simply launching a new platform, we needed to validate whether the network was ready to adopt a new form of digital interaction. With this in mind, opportunities to enhance the user experience were identified:
Create a journey centered on a single platform, with brand-aligned design guidelines, ensuring consistency across materials and tools
Develop the end-to-end journey, identifying gaps and future opportunities
Map out the products, their interactions and touchpoints, with an emphasis on learning and usability
Take advantage of the creation of a new platform to replace old and obsolete systems
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
As part of our benchmarking and research to understand market participants, we mapped out language schools ranging from franchises with physical locations to online platforms. These included CCAA, Cultura Inglesa, Fisk, Yázigi, Open English, Fluency and Cambly.
PLATFORM JORNEY
At the request of the product team, a journey was created, offering simple and intuitive flows for the student portal, aligned with the stages and activities designed around the course objectives. It is important to note that, for this sample, only the student’s journey within the platform was shared, excluding enrollment, onboarding, and course completion workflows.
CONCEPT HISTORY
It all started with the concept of an ideal portal featuring tools such as a schedule, lesson history, progress tracking, homework, audio, video, chat, and notes. Next, the essential features required to begin development and eventually reach a mature version were identified. This process lasted for months.
usability test
Throughout the process, several rounds of usability and adoption testing were conducted across the various stages. To this end, Wizard teachers and students from various franchises were invited to help validate the platform over a two-month period.

DESIGN SYSTEM
One of the key features of this platform was the development of the Design System for Wizard products (coming soon to this portfolio as well 😃). The main challenge lies in creating a unified system of components and libraries for all facets of the brand—serving as a reference for the programmers and developers who will use them in their daily work. The concept behind the tool is for it to function as a constantly evolving organism.
HOME PAGE
The homepage provides a summary of the portal, allowing quick access to any section of the platform. Highlighted areas showcase details about specific features.

YOUR COURSE
The courses page is where the learning takes place, organized into lessons and a learning path based on the book’s content. For this example, New Wizard 2 – the basic English language course was used. There are five additional levels, as well as Business English and other languages.
PROGRESS
On the progress page, the student can access information about classes, homework, activities, and course progress. Additionally, they can view attendance and lesson assessments.
LIBRARY
The library brings together all the educational materials and content needed for students to take the classes. In the portal’s initial version, the content is provided in PDF format, but future versions will allow for interactive access to the books.
SETTINGS
On the settings page, users can select special Wizard avatars, update personal information, and—most importantly—adjust accessibility settings. The platform includes versions for colorblind users, fonts suitable for dyslexia, and a font size adjuster.
RESULTS
Student satisfaction score of +72 NPS for the first version
The number of active users exceeded 8,000 in few months.
The average time spent on the platform per week increased by more than 30% per user.
Adoption and engagement of over 400 schools in the first 3 months.
80% of the teachers stated that the Portal met or exceeded expectations.
